So, at first, I was like everyone else with wtf Elon? On the re-opening of the Tesla factory in Alameda against the county's orders.
So, I dug in a little bit. Turns out that manufacturing in the adjoining counties is up and running, and that Gavin Newsom is supporting the re-opening from a state level.
But there must be some static between Elon and the Alameda health office.
Tesla does have this 30-page handbook on the processes they are taking to re-open. Frankly, this is much more responsible and thorough than anything that I have seen in Texas, and of course the Federal Government is hamstrung to do anything.
So, in this case, I believe I agree with Elon Musk and Tesla. Given the extra precautions they are taking and the relative lack of precautions nationwide, I do not see why they cannot re-open with 30% of the workforce.
Not an expert, but I was impressed by the manual.
