The Ad Astra crew had a very productive day yesterday:
Finally finished the generator repair (broken since Feb - not not really necessary w/Solar, but very good to have) - final piece was replacing the bad oil sender.
Max and Kyle installed two new shower drain pumps, replacing the ones that striped their teflon gears.
Cleaned the whole boat, lightened the boat of a few dozen books. Patched two holes in the mosquito net door.
I swam 30 laps, and improved my chess rating.
Today we are going to have family board game day to have a day of rest before BOAT WEEK.
What is BOAT WEEK?
We haul Ad Astra tomorrow, and besides bottom paint, we will work like mad to drive down the open boat list back down into priority 3s. We will be staying aboard Ad Astra in the yard, where it it be a bit more hot, so it will be a week of BBQ dinners! But when we splash again in a week Ad Astra should be looking and feeling pretty darn fit!

A year earlier, the same boat demanded the same kind of day — and the autopilot was just as uncooperative.
Very productive day:
This is what 'boat week' was building toward: Ad Astra gleaming and back in the water after all that hauled-out hustle.
... and Ad Astra is back on the water!
That celebratory generator fix was just the warm-up: months later, two dead engines threatened a 200-mile crossing.
