We are looking to buy a PC gaming laptop for both general game playing and development. We have plenty of macs but want to start some PC testing.

It has been over a decade since I bought a PC, what are the current thoughts on brands?

Looking online we see some really compelling offerings from Republic of Gamers (ROG), MSI, Acer, Asus, Dell and even Micro Center. Razor and Alienware seem nice but perhaps a bit more expensive for what you get?

Any latest anecdotes on customer service, warranty, dead on arrival, etc?

EDIT: I will pick up the laptop in the USA, but for this machine's future it will be offshore, so robust quality out of the box and minimum repair drama is highly important.
