Here is my frustration - the NRA only spends $4m a year. That is actually a tiny amount of money at the national level. We have thousands of people rich enough that they could match the NRA 1:1 or even better odds 2:1 or 3:1 to any politician to take clean money over blood cash.
But the bigger amount is the $250m a year operating budget that covers ALL of the NRA's propaganda.
That is 60x larger of a number.
But still, Apple, Facebook, Google, Amazon or Microsoft *alone* could out fund an organization with the budget of the NRA and it would be basically pennies on the dollar for these companies.
Yet, what really needs to happen is marketing. Socially accelerated marketing. The fear mongers have easier product to sell - fear. We simply need to work harder and sell rationality.
The money is not the barrier I am saying, the problem is that having a gun and being The Hero against the Evil Ones is so easy to sell.
Somehow we need to make gun control sexy.
