THIS!
TL;DR The police rob us for over $20B a year in bullshit fines and asset seizures AND then we have to pay them an additional $75B in salaries for the privilege of being robbed in theory to protect us from the total $5B of property crime.
We are literally paying the police $95 a year, because criminals steal $5 a year from us.
Imagine if ALL traffic and non violent fines collected could ONLY be used by the state department to solve hungry and thirsty kids in OTHER countries. Suddenly, overnight, there would be no incentive to rob us of the $95B a year.
Or at least we could force all traffic fines to be used to process rape kits in less than 24 hours.
We are dumb.

The 2020 call for abolition sharpens what was already clear in 2015—the math has never justified what we're paying for.
The police steal more money from us via asset seizure than criminals
A year before this post, Ferguson forced the same math: $150B in policing vs. $440M in crime—the numbers are damning either way.
"But they have to stop looting"?
