The smallest things in life make me happy.

Here in the marina, there is a constant flow of day charters coming in and out, and small wakes that cause an annoying surge and strain against the lines.

After too long, I made up this smaller line bowline attached the the center of the aft line. Now the boat is perfectly calm under any wakes.

I am not sure what to call this simple machine. Is it a pulley? A spring? Clearly a lever under the hood, but what is this best called?
