The insidious thing about the various hacks against our election systems - is the same as Trump's attacks against our news organizations.
To cast a spell of illegitimacy, confusion and ultimately a distrust in our shared systems.
*IF* we wanted to, we could create a nation-wide, standardized, open-source, audited election system. We could have standardized paper machines, it could be a mobile app that would allow busy people to vote as they commute between their 2nd and 3rd job.
As a society we can deliver you consumer items within an hour of a few swipes on your phone.
We *could* have secure voting.
We could give a day off.
We could have automatic voter registration.
We could even give a $200 tax rebate if you vote.
We could even give a $200 fine if you do not vote.
We could do anything we *want* to do.
Think about why we do not do these things.
Because we live in a Truman Show.
We *need* the 18-25 to come out and vote. We need hispanics to come out and vote.
Even when they are changing Democratic votes to GOP votes in Georgia, we need to get out and vote.
This craptastic pile of shit is all we have to work with.
The problem becomes several orders more difficult after this checkpoint.
