We are here in Shelter Bay Marina, and Juan here walked up to me and complemented me on my existing tattoos and then suggested that he add another one.
I have often thought of having the Ad Astra tattoo, but never found the right moment. But this was an instant ah-hah!
Keri Waters took two weeks out of her life to drop everything (and escape the epic cold), and like a born sailor adapted to the salty life and decluttered Ad Astra to the benefit of the indigenous of Bocas de Toro.
After sorting her out, we had a 20 hour sail down to Shelter Bay. It was a magical sail: flat seas, clear starry skies - with the satellites, shooting stars and even an airburst meteor!
The dolphins came and gave us both an evening and morning escort, and Keri was alone on watch when the whales burst out in deep song.
The bioluminescence from the wake always gives me deep satisfaction with Ad Astra's name, for we were surely sailing to the stars on a cloud of stars.
So, when Juan suggested a tattoo, I knew it was the right time to celebrate her with all of the loving memories of family and friends. And it is a deep honor to me that Keri shared the last Caribbean sail of Ad Astra.
I asked Keri what she thought about Juan and the tattoo and she was an instant thumbs up. Thank you for the direct support Keri!
A great omen as we progress through our business partnership.
Ad Astra is up on the hard and will get an extensive spa treatment and is headed to Texas to be closer to us.
