Why do we give insane people the right to bear arms

Why do we give insane people the right to bear arms? 45% of Americans own guns and 9% of Americans have serious mental illness.

That means we have literally 5 to 15 million mentally unstable with guns. Legally. This is just stupid.

The 2nd amendment needs to be revised to be a privilege for the mature, sane, and crime-free.

We can clean up illegal guns if we tried (bounties), we should increase mental health spending. Honest, responsible gun owners should be able to hunt, sport or have a reasonable home defense weapon.

But we need to materially control guns. No assault rifles. No handguns with clips bigger than even 6. Prove you are a responsible gun owner. Pass exams. Lock up your guns. Take responsibility for your gun.

Men should be over 25 or 35 to access anything than a hunting rifle or a hunting shotgun.

Most poignant: the shooter's own mother had multiple guns and she was unable to stop the shooter. So she had the right weapons - but what? Fail.

The gun lobby's marketing brochure has been lying to us.

Demand that your neighbors be sane gun owners.
